Mxolisi Dukwana is a renowned South African politician, who was born in Odendaalsrus in the current-day Free State province.

A the early stage of his career, he trained as a teacher in Kroonstad, he served as a teacher at a secondary school in Odendaalsrus from the year 1986 to 1993.

Within the same period, he participated in the South African Youth Congress, which was then an anti-apartheid organization.

A year after, he was appointed a commissioner in1994, he was made the commissioner for the post-apartheid government’s Reconstruction and Development Program.

In 2023, South African politician was elected as the 7th Premier of the Free State since his election in February 2023. Before his election, he occupied a position in the Free State Executive Council, there he served as a Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs.

In May 2021, he was made the interim leader aka convener of the Free State branch of his political party, which bears the name, African National Congress (ANC), less than two years after, he was elected as the Provincial Chairperson of the ANC party in January 2023.
